I just got married!
And since I have once again braved nuptials, I started thinking about how many ways I could blow this wonderful thing. Number one on the list: cheat on her! So I decided on some mashup therapy to prevent any temptations that should ever come my way.
"It Wasn't Yours"

This one's for the kids!
Pairing Sean Kingston's take on "Stand By Me" with a classic from a boy band seems natural - if only they hadn't been released over a decade apart!
"I Want Beautiful Girls"
featuring:
"Beautiful Girls" - Sean Kingston
"I Want It That Way" - Backstreet Boys
+ some background vocals from Ben E. King...
Make sure to share this, kids!

Sometimes vocals take on a whole new context when backed with another track - that's one of the things that makes mashups so interesting!
In this case, the emotional power of Snow Patrol's breakout hit brings a new life to the eighties agnst classic.

If James Hetfield had been from Minneapolis, perhaps he might have bumped into His Purpleness. At some point they might have collaborated on something. Perhaps even Prince's musical booty call, adding some hard, crunching guitar to the hard core funk. This could've been the result...

"Erotic City" - Prince
"Enter Sandman" - Metallica

One of my favorite new groups matched against one of my least favorite performers. Hey, at least they've found some common ground with this one. And if you listen closely, you'll even hear a pseudo-eco friendly message here: ("...glaciers melting in the dead of night; why don't you do something?").
"Supermassive Something"
"Supermassive Black Hole" - Muse (vocals, guitar)
"Do Something" - Britney Spears (instruments, some vocals)

"The Hustle Slide"
featuring:
"The Hustle" by Van McCoy
"The Cha-Cha Slide" by Mr.C (aka DJ Casper)
Mobile DJ's: I've already tested this with kids (who approve) and older audiences (who prefer it to the original). THIS mix makes the Cha Cha Slide more palatable to older audiences who are not crazy about the original's bass drone! So......PLAY IT!

Here's what always seems to happen: what seems to me a natural pairing seems odd or near impossible to others. So it goes with this one. When making something like this, it's perhaps better to have a BONZAI attitude. If it makes you feel any better, think of this as an aural California Roll.

A very UN-happy Fifth Anniversary!
I can't believe we are still in this unjust profit venture we call the Iraq War. When I made my first post here one year ago, I never dreamed we'd still be stuck in it. So while holding my peace high (and lowering the index finger just for 'W'), I present this year's version of last year's mashup.
It's called "War Bombs '08"
...and it mashes the following songs:
"You Dropped A Bomb On Me" by Gap Band
"War" by Edwin Starr
"War Pigs" by Black Sabbath
"Bombs Over Baghdad" by Outkast
and now, "Beds Are Burning" by Midnight Oil
We have all suffered through FIVE years of this piece of Shi'ite war! Since music not only has the power to entertain but ALSO to make us think, I dedicate this with total love, respect, and support to the troops who've been unnecessarily put in harm's way.

I wanted to find a perfect match for this 'pella and I think I was very fortunate when I tried it out with these tracks, in particular this remixed version I found. Better than anticipated, really.
It's called "Falling In September"
It's The Beatles "I've Just Seen A Face" over Earth, Wind, & Fire's dance classic "September". There's also two versions: THIS version and a Club Mix with a longer intro and outro for playout mixing.

Released at the perfect time of the year for sports: we just finished with March Madness and The Masters, just got started with baseball, getting into the play-offs for hockey and basketball, and there's also football (NFL draft, Arena football, and of course soccer).
With that in mind, I present this tree and a half minute barrage of sports music, soundbites, and sound effects I call the "Ultimate Sports Drink". It's dubbed the '07th Game Mix because I made the original version in 2001 and have now reworked and remixed this newest version for 2007.
